How It Works

1. Personalized Consultation
A skincare specialist evaluates your skin type, tone and goals, whether that’s pigmentation, fine lines, texture or laxity. Together you’ll build a treatment plan tailored to you. AVAVA is designed to be safe for all skin types, including darker skin tones.

2. Laser Delivery
Using built-in high-resolution imaging, your provider sees exactly where to treat and delivers precise laser energy beneath the surface while protecting the outer layer of your skin. Integrated cooling helps to keep the treatment comfortable.

3. Recovery and Results
Patients report a faster recovery than from other laser treatments. You’ll likely see redness for the first couple days, then flaking, and then refreshed skin. Your nurse will recommend products to use during the recovery phase. Tightening effects may take longer to see.

What It Treats

AVAVA is FDA-cleared for fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, and skin resurfacing. Other cosmetic benefits may vary by patient. AVAVA can help improve the appearance of:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles- softens visible signs of aging

  • Skin laxity- improves the appearance of mild skin looseness and promotes firmer-looking skin

  • Uneven skin texture- helps create smoother, more refined skin

  • Uneven skin tone and early signs of aging

  • Acne scars- improves the appearance of certain types of acne scarring

  • Enlarged pores- helps minimize the appearance of visible pores

  • Overall skin quality- supports collagen remodeling for healthier, more youthful-looking skin

Pre-Treatment Guidelines

  • Avoid sun exposure at a minimum for 2 weeks before treatment

  • Discontinue any topical prescription medication to the treatment area 2 weeks before treatment

  • One week before treatment, discontinue over-the counter skin care products with powerful active ingredients

  • Wait 2 weeks between discontinuation of photosensitive medications (tetracyclines, etc.) before starting treatment

  • Wait 2 weeks after facials/chemical peels/microneedling/neurotoxin/dermal fillers before beginning treatment

  • Darker Fitzpatrick skin types may be preconditioned with tyrosinase inhibitors

  • Patients with a history of swelling or a histamine reaction may be pretreated with Claritin 5 days before treatment

Post-Treatment Care

  • Sleep with head elevated for 2-3 days

  • Do not scrub, rub, use exfoliants or pick at skin post treatment

  • Refrain from using anything to the treatment area topically for the next 24 hours besides gentle cleanser Avoid direct sun exposure to face for minimum of 2 weeks following treatment

  • Only use a gentle cleanser on your skin (e.g. Cetaphil)

  • Avoid any facial treatments for a minimum of 2 weeks post treatment (skin may remain fragile for 4 weeks)

  • Any feeling of dryness of your skin can be addressed with gentle non-comedogenic moisturizer

After 24-48 hours

  • Use a sunscreen daily for sensitive skin as your last application of topicals
  • Avoid skincare with active ingredients like AHAs/BHAs and retinols for 1 week post treatment
  • Consult with your healthcare professional about the use of ibuprofen/acetaminophen
  • Apply ice as needed for supportive measures post treatment
  • Discuss with your healthcare provider the use of H1/H2 histamine blockers for swelling reduction
  • Oral prescription medication (e.g. prednisone) may be prescribed by your healthcare professional
  • Some patients may experience acne-like eruptions that can be managed by your healthcare professional
  • Please reach out to your healthcare professional with any questions or concerns
