An IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) Photofacial is a non-invasive light-based treatment designed to visibly reduce sun spots, pigmentation, redness, and broken capillaries—all with minimal downtime. Using targeted wavelengths of light, IPL treatments rejuvenate the skin from within by triggering the body’s natural healing process and promoting a clearer, more balanced complexion.
At Synerchi Medical Spa, our IPL Photofacial services are available for the face, neck, chest, and other areas affected by sun exposure or pigmentation. Whether you’re concerned about dark spots, flushing, or overall skin clarity, IPL offers an effective and clinically backed solution.
Diminishes sun spots, age spots, and hyperpigmentation
Reduces redness, rosacea, and broken capillaries
Improves overall tone and clarity of the skin
Stimulates natural collagen production
Minimal downtime, with gradual visible results
Step 1: Consultation & Prep
We’ll assess your skin concerns and create a personalized treatment plan. IPL is ideal for lighter skin tones with visible sun damage or pigmentation.
Step 2: Light Energy Treatment
During treatment, pulses of broad-spectrum light are applied to the skin. Pigmented or damaged cells absorb the light, which converts to heat and gently breaks them apart.
Step 3: Skin Renewal
Over the following days, the treated pigment will darken and flake off, revealing clearer, smoother skin underneath. Collagen production is also triggered, providing longer-term rejuvenation.
IPL Photofacials are commonly used to treat:
Sun damage and age spots
Freckles and melasma (in some cases)
Redness and rosacea
Facial veins and broken capillaries
Uneven skin tone and dullness
Fine lines (as a secondary benefit)
To ensure the best outcome, please follow these instructions:
Avoid sun exposure and artificial tanning (spray tans, tanning beds) for 2–4 weeks prior
Discontinue photosensitizing products such as retinoids, glycolic acid, or AHAs at least 7 days before your appointment
A numbing cream will be applied 30 minutes prior to your treatment for comfort
Mild redness, warmth, or a sunburned sensation is normal and should resolve within a few hours to a day.
Aftercare includes:
Apply cool compresses as needed until the skin calms
Avoid direct sun exposure and wear broad-spectrum SPF daily
Expect darkening of brown spots, which will flake off naturally in 5–7 days
Resume your regular skincare routine the next day unless otherwise instructed
An in-depth aftercare handout will be provided at your appointment
IPL Photofacials work best for individuals with lighter skin tones (Fitzpatrick I–III) who are looking to reduce signs of sun damage or pigmentation. It may not be suitable for those with melasma-prone or deeper skin tones, as it can sometimes cause hyperpigmentation.
