PDO threading is a powerful, non-surgical procedure designed to lift sagging skin and stimulate long-term collagen production for a firmer, more youthful appearance. This advanced technique uses absorbable sutures placed beneath the skin to either lift facial contours or stimulate natural collagen regeneration, depending on the type of thread used.
At Synerchi Medical Spa, we offer three types of PDO threads—smooth, twist, and barbed—allowing for personalized treatment plans that address both structural support and skin quality. Whether you’re looking to soften wrinkles, firm your jawline, or restore youthful volume, PDO threads offer safe, effective results with minimal downtime.
Provides subtle facial lifting without surgery
Stimulates natural collagen and elastin production
Improves facial definition, especially in cheeks, jowls, and jawline
Enhances skin texture and tightness over time
Minimal downtime and long-lasting results (12–18 months)
Step 1: Consultation & Thread Selection
Your provider will assess your facial structure and aesthetic goals to determine which thread type(s) are appropriate:
Smooth Threads – for overall skin rejuvenation and texture
Twist Threads – for subtle volume and fine line filling
Barbed Threads – for lifting sagging areas like the jawline or cheeks
Step 2: Application
After applying a local anesthetic, PDO threads are carefully inserted under the skin using fine needles. The placement pattern is customized to support your natural facial structure and address concerns like volume loss, sagging, or deep creases.
Step 3: Regeneration & Absorption
The threads remain in the skin, triggering controlled healing and collagen production. Over 3–6 months, the threads dissolve naturally, leaving behind a network of fresh collagen for firmer, smoother skin that continues to improve over time.
PDO threads are extremely versatile and can be used to address a wide range of facial aging concerns:
Lifting (Barbed Threads):
Sagging cheeks or jowls
Poorly defined jawline
Mild neck laxity
Drooping brows
Rejuvenation (Smooth & Twist Threads):
Crow’s feet and forehead lines
Marionette lines and nasolabial folds
Under-eye hollowness
Chin creases
Overall dull or lax skin texture
To reduce the risk of bruising or complications:
Avoid blood thinners, aspirin, ibuprofen, and alcohol for 5–7 days prior
Inform your provider if you’ve had a recent illness, vaccination, or dental procedure
Come to your appointment with a clean, makeup-free face
Local anesthetic will be administered if barbed threads are being placed.
Mild redness, swelling, and tenderness are common for a few days. You may also feel tightness or slight pulling in lifted areas, which is expected.
Aftercare Instructions:
Apply ice packs intermittently for the first 24–48 hours
Avoid strenuous activity for 2–3 weeks
Do not rub, massage, or stretch the treated area
Sleep on your back and elevate your head for the first few nights
Avoid dental work, facial treatments, or excessive jaw movement (e.g. wide yawning) for 2 weeks
A detailed aftercare guide will be provided at your visit.
PDO threads are ideal for individuals in their 30s to 60s who are starting to notice skin laxity, sagging, or volume loss but aren’t ready for surgery. They are especially effective for clients who want natural-looking results with minimal intervention.
You may not be a candidate if you:
Are pregnant or breastfeeding
Are currently ill, on antibiotics, or have had a recent fever
Have had a recent vaccination or plan to get one within 2 weeks
