What is Kybella?
Kybella is an injectable medication used to target the fat beneath the chin (also known as the submental region). The key ingredient in Kybella is deoxycholic acid. When applied to an area, it destroys fat permanently so the cells will no longer accumulate or store fat. When injected into the fat beneath the chin, Kybella destroys fat cells, resulting in a noticeable reduction in fullness under the chin. Once destroyed, these cells can no longer accumulate or store fat, so further treatment is not expected once the desired aesthetic goal is reached.
What does it treat?
Kybella permanently reduces fat underneath the chin, also known as submental fullness.
Pre-Treatment
- Discontinue blood thinning products (ASA, ibuprofen, supplements) 1 week prior to treatment
- Skin must be completely clean prior to treatment (no makeup, moisturizer, etc)
Post-Treatment
- Expect tenderness, swelling, and bruising
- Apply ice for any post-treatment discomfort
- Avoid strenuous activity for 24 hours
